step1.gif
Together with your learners obtain permission from the Principal to do a written survey with one class in the school that is a higher Grade than your class. Find a time when your learners will be able to meet with this class.

step2.gif
Ask the learners to prepare the questions on a sheet of paper, either by copying the questionnaire or by printing it – one sheet for each learner that will fill out the survey.
Click here to open the questionnaire.

step3.gif
Explain to the learners how they should present themselves and the survey to the other class:

When you meet with the class, explain that you are doing research on gender issues and that you would appreciate their help. Also explain that this is anonymous research, and that they should not put their names on their questionnaires. Finally, explain that you will present the results of your survey at assembly.

step4.gif
Make sure that the learners can conduct the survey with the class on the appointed day.

step5.gif
Ask the learners to collate all the answers from their questionnaires.

Ask the learners to write up all their findings – with diagrams if they like – on a poster so that they can present it clearly. The learners can make a poster in Ms Word, using Word Art and different fonts, sizes and colours, or in any other program on the computer. They can also work on paper.

step7.gif
The learners present their findings, explaining what they think these findings show us about the kind of school, community and society we live in, and what they want to do about this.
