Morning Times (25 mins)
GoalsGuidelines
Tell the learners - We are going to reflect on our actions this morning.
All learners should a new blank file in Microsoft Word or any text writing program. Create a table with 4 columns and 10 rows. To do this you go to 'Table'. There you click on insert and then on table. Fill in the number of columns and rows.
Tip: this can be done equally well on paper.
In the first row you fill in these headings in bold:
- Time spent
- Activity
- Who I interacted with
- Relationship rating
Now working on your own, fill in the table by thinking carefully about how you used your time this morning. Think of each little thing, even if it seemed unimportant to you at the time or if it was something you did unconsciously. An example has been created for you:

Now think about each activity you listed and rate that activity by using the scale given below:
1 – Worsened my relationship with that person a lot.
2 – Worsened my relationship with that person a little.
3 – Did not worsen or improve my relationship with that person.
4 – Improved my relationship with that person a little.
5 – Improved my relationship with that person a lot.
For example; if you said a hasty good morning to your uncle without looking at him when you came in to switch on the kettle, you might rate this a “3”. You will learn the most from this activity if you do your ratings honestly.
When you are done look at your average scores. This gives you an indication of how well you contributed to a healthy, happy home this morning.
Ask a few students to share what they learnt or noticed while doing this exercise.
