Are you ready to pledge?

Goals
orange-dot.gifLearners implement what they have learnt about solving conflicts peacefully in their daily lives.

Guidelines
A pledge is most effective when it is freely chosen. Therefore we encourage learners to pledge but it is not a must. They should do it when they are ready and feel committed. The pledges below can be taken in any order. They are all part of working towards a nonviolent lifestyle.

This should be done at the end of each lesson. Show the learners where to find the pledges. Allow them to look through them for a few minutes and decide for themselves if and which pledge they want to take.

If they take the pledge they should write it down in their copy book and work on it everyday.

Remind learners that a pledge is personal they can also come up with their own pledges. Also remind learners that putting a pledge into practice takes time, so they should not give up on it (or themselves) if at first it does not come naturally.

Pledges for a nonviolent lifestyle

pledge.gifConflict does not need to be resolved immediately. I can tell the person that I am too upset or angry right now to respond but that I would like to come back to talk about it later.
