Being blind (5 mins)
GoalsGuidelines
The whole group divides into pairs.
Each will take turns in pretending to be blind by closing their eyes firmly. Now they allow their partner to
lead them along. Go for a short walk in or around the classroom or just outside. The blind person has to
keep their eyes closed all the time and let themselves be lead.
After a few minutes they can swap roles.
Afterwards have a short discussion about how it felt.
Questions you can ask:
What does it feel like to be lead if you can't see?
What does it feel like to lead?
Which did you prefer, why?
This game helps us see what it is to be responsible for someone else and also what it feels like to be
vulnerable and dependent. It's all about trust!
