Friends and clubs circles (30 mins)

Goals

Guidelines
This is an example of a finished friendship and clubs circles. Follow the instructions below to make your own.

Tell learners to take a page if they are going to draw it or if they are going to work on the computer, they can open this this powerpoint document on the computer.

If drawing - draw three circles around each other - see example.
If on the computer the circles are already drawn so just write your name in the middle.

Now they should start filling in your friends and clubs in the second circle, starting with the closest friends.

Then they should think about one (or more) good qualities of their friendship or club on them and fill that in in the third circle close to the name of that friend or club. Qualities such as "he listens to me" or "she always tells me the truth".

Now they can go to the next outer circle and write things that are not so good about this friendship or club.

In the most outer circle place the most appropriate smiley.

Ask a few learners to share what they discovered.

Tip:
If any learners are finished quickly they can decorate the circles and qualities with symbols and drawings.

Questions to ask:
1.What did you learn by doing the activity?
2. Did you have trouble thinking of good qualities in any of your friendships?
