Make a postcard (30 mins)
Today we are going to make a postcard, to be sent to the President urging him to increase efforts in the fight against gender violence.First look at slide 19 of the info cartoon. What do these percentages really mean? To help us understand these figures, let us look at what it would mean in your class:
- If there are 20 girls in your class, for example, and 25% of them have suffered physical abuse, how many girls have been victims of physical abuse?
- How many have suffered emotional abuse?
- How many
have suffered from domestic violence?
Once you have worked out the numbers, ask yourself how it makes you feel knowing that so many of the girls have suffered in this way. Also think about why these figures are so high in our country.
Now you will prepare your message, what do you want to see happening in the fight against gender violence? What can the government do, to either help people affected by this violence or to help prevent more gender violence?
Type your text in Ms Word, using Word Art and different fonts, sizes and colours, or in any other program on the computer. You can also work on paper.

Tip
Maybe you can hang your postcards up somewhere for other young people to see.
